Sono richieste le conoscenze derivanti dal corso intergrato di Fisiologia veterinaria e principi di etologia applicata in particole sulle seguenti tematiche:
Processi fisiologici che operano per il mantenimento dell’omeostasi: controllo nervoso ed ormonale
Metodi di osservazione, e di registrazione del comportamento animale; formulazione di un etogramma.
Stress: principali sistemi coinvolti nell’attivazione del meccanismo di stress.
Nozioni di anatomia e fisiologia del cane e del gatto

Gestione tecnica del canile e del gattile
Sono richieste conoscenze di base di allevamento e benessere animale.

Obiettivi formativi

L'insegnamento concorre alla realizzazione dell'OBIETTIVO FORMATIVO del corso di studi in PGAAS fornendo allo studente conoscenze su:

- funzione dei principali comportamenti, sulle fasi di sviluppo comportamentale, sulle modalità di comunicazione, sui principali moduli comportamentali nel cane e nel gatto. Lo studente dovrà essere dotato della capacità critica necessaria ad applicare le conoscenze e competenze acquisite nell'ambito del comportamento animale finalizzato alla gestione dell'allevamento del cane e del gatto ( prof.sse  Miretti e Macchi) .

-  comportamento riproduttivo in soggetti sani ( prof.ssa Ponzio );

gestione dell'allevamento canino e felino , corretta valutazione delle condizioni di allevamento del cane e delle caratteristiche strutturali ed organizzative che concorrono alla corretta gestione dell'allevamento, promuovendo il benessere degli animali in tutte le sue dimensioni, ed il rispetto per le disposizioni legislative in vigore;  identificazione degli animali attraverso i sistemi elettronici previsti dalla legislazione in vigore; valutazione della condizione corporea del cane e della qualità delle feci degli animali ; istruzioni per una corretta ricerca bibliografica ( prof.ssa Nery ) .

The teaching contributes to the achievement of the EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVE of the course of study in PGAAS by providing the student with knowledge on:

- function of the main behaviors, on the phases of behavioral development, on the modalities of communication, on the main behavioral modules in dogs and cats. The student must have the critical ability necessary to apply the knowledge and skills acquired in the field of animal behavior aimed at managing dog and cat breeding (Prof. Miretti and Macchi).

- reproductive behavior in healthy subjects (Prof. Ponzio);

- management of canine and feline breeding, correct assessment of dog breeding conditions and of the structural and organizational characteristics that contribute to the correct management of the breeding, promoting the well-being of animals in all its dimensions, and compliance with legislative provisions in force; identification of animals through the electronic systems provided for by the legislation in force; assessment of the body condition of the dog and the quality of the faeces of the animals; instructions for a correct bibliographic research (Prof.ssa Nery).

Risultati dell'apprendimento attesi

Oltre ad aver acquisito le conoscenze proprie dell'insegnamento, lo studente, dovrà essere in grado di VALUTARE, CONOSCERE E COMPRENDERE:

- il comportamento e  il benessere di cane e gatto in condizioni di allevamento e stabulati (pensione/rifugio/canile) alla luce delle nozioni di base acquisite riguardanti lo sviluppo comportamentale e le corrette manifestazioni comportamentali specie specifiche anche relative alla sfera riproduttiva.

- la gestione dell'allevamento canino e felino , le  caratteristiche strutturali ed organizzative che concorrono alla corretta gestione dell'allevamento,  le disposizioni legislative in vigore;  l' identificazione degli animali attraverso i sistemi elettronici previsti dalla legislazione in vigore; la valutazione della condizione corporea del cane e della qualità delle feci degli animali ; la una corretta ricerca bibliografica.

 Lo studente dovrà essere in grado di dimostrare di aver acquisito la conoscenza e la  terminologia scientifica corretta insieme alla capacità di effettuare una disamina logica e critica   degli  argomenti  inerenti le tematiche  del Corso Integrato sviluppando  le nozioni acquisite in tutti i moduli  del corso integrato .

Lo studente dovrà avere capacità di valutazione critica  degli  argomenti  inerenti le tematiche  del Corso Integrato sviluppando  le nozioni acquisite in tutti i moduli  del corso integrato .

Lo studente dovrà dimostrare  abilità comunicative sugli argomenti affrontati nel  corso integrato.

 Lo studente dovrà dimostrare la  capacità di operare una sintesi tra le conoscenze propedeutiche di alimentazione e fisiologia animale e quelle pratico applicative delle basi dell'allevamento e della gestione dell'allevamento del cane.

 Lo studente dovrà essere in grado di dimostrare di aver acquisito la conoscenza della terminologia scientifica corretta insieme alla capacità di effettuare una disamina logica e critica degli argomenti affrontati nel  corso integrato..

 

In addition to having acquired the knowledge of teaching, the student must be able to EVALUATE, KNOW AND UNDERSTAND:

- the behavior and well-being of dogs and cats in breeding and stable conditions (boarding house / shelter / kennel) in light of the basic notions acquired regarding behavioral development and correct behavioral manifestations, specific species also relating to the reproductive sphere.

ABILITY TO APPLY KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING

The student must be able to demonstrate that they have acquired the correct scientific knowledge and terminology together with the ability to carry out a logical and critical examination of the topics related to the themes of the Integrated Course by developing the notions acquired in all the modules of the integrated course.

AUTONOMY OF JUDGMENT

The student must have the ability to critically evaluate the topics related to the topics of the Integrated Course by developing the knowledge acquired in all the modules of the integrated course.

COMMUNICATION SKILLS.

The student will have to demonstrate communication skills on the topics covered in the integrated course.

LEARNING ABILITY

The student will have to demonstrate the ability to make a synthesis between the preparatory knowledge of animal nutrition and physiology and the practical application of the basics of breeding and dog breeding management.

ABILITY TO APPLY KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING

The student must be able to demonstrate that they have acquired the knowledge of the correct scientific terminology together with the ability to carry out a logical and critical examination of a topic  concerning the theme of the Integrated Course.

Modalità di insegnamento

Il Corso Integrato si compone di 6 CFU per un totale di 72 h di cui 48 di lezione teorica e 24 di esercitazione.

Nell'anno 2021 il Corso integrato seguirà la modalità di didattica a distanza.

I docenti caricheranno sulla piattaforma Moodle il materiale didattico ( costituito da file audio power point o audio mp4 e  materiale in forma scritta- testi o dispense, video esercitativi  ) . 

In orario saranno indicati i focus time in cui le professoresse saranno  a disposizione per chiarimenti e  confronti sul materiale didattico.

The Integrated Course consists of 6 ECTS for a total of 72 hours, 48 of which are theoretical lessons and 24 of exercises.

In the year 2021 the integrated course will follow the distance teaching method.

Teachers will upload teaching material (consisting of power point audio files or mp4 audio files and material in written form - texts or handouts, tutorial videos) on the Moodle platform.

The focus times in which the professors will be available for clarifications and comparisons on the teaching material will be indicated on time.

Modalità di verifica dell'apprendimento

 

ESONERO DI FINE CORSO

E' previsto un ESONERO il 9-06-21 sotto forma di presentazione orale a gruppi (max 2 studenti, su supporto PowerPoint), su un argomento scelto dagli studenti, approfondito in modo da comprendere obbligatoriamente le  tematiche dei 4 MD che compongono il Corso Integrato .

Gli studenti dovranno collegarsi alla webex del docente che verrà indicata prima dell’esonero

Seguirà da parte dei docenti una domanda per ciascun MD.

Il superamento dell'esonero implicherà, ove la votazione venga accettata, il superamento dell'esame.

 I CRITERI DI SVOLGIMENTO E DI VALUTAZIONE DELL' ESONERO

Lo studente dovrà esporre oralmente alla commissione una presentazione power point. La durata massima della presentazione sarà di 10 minuti e gli studenti potranno scegliere se effettuare la presentazione singolarmente o in coppia (sempre con un tempo massimo a disposizione di 10 minuti complessivi) .

Le informazioni utilizzate per la presentazione dovranno rispecchiare gli argomenti illustrati dai docenti del corso. La bibliografia  riportata nella presentazione dovrà essere  ottenuta dalla consultazione di testi, articoli scientifici (visionati tramite siti scientifici es. PUB MED, google scholar ….). Lo studente dovrà indicare   nel testo della presentazione la citazione abbreviata di autore e anno (es. Bianchi, 2011). Alla fine della presentazione una slide dovrà riportare per esteso e per ogni pubblicazione citata:  titolo della pubblicazione, nome della rivista, volume, pagine).

Al termine della presentazione ogni docente potrà rivolgere al candidato 1 domanda

Lo studente verrà valutato su:

1_presentazione:

  • grafica (capacità di sintesi, numero di slides adeguato…) fino ad un massimo di 3 punti;
  • rispetto del tempo fino ad un massimo di 3 punti
  • esposizione (chiarezza e capacità di sintesi, capacità di rivolgersi alla platea…) fino ad un massimo di 4 punti;

2_argomento:

  • congruità della scelta con i temi del Corso fino ad un massimo di 3 punti;
  • completezza nell'affrontare tutti i moduli fino ad un massimo di 3 punti;
  • uso di materiale bibliografico (articoli scientifici, testi…) fino ad un massimo di 4 punti.
  • capacità di risposta alle domande della commissione.Valore fino ad un massimo di 10 punti

Al termine della presentazione, ogni docente potrà rivolgere al candidato n. 1 domanda. Il docente potrà rinunciare a fare la domanda se la presentazione è stata esaustiva e i punti a disposizione saranno conteggiati in aggiunta ai punti 1 e 2 dei punteggi  di valutazione .

 

Le informazioni riportate ottenute dalla consultazione di testi, articoli scientifici non dovranno  rappresentare più della metà della relazione, rispetto al materiale fornito dai docenti.

 

VOTAZIONE

Al termine delle presentazioni la Commissione si riunirà per stabilire le votazioni degli studenti. Al termine della seduta della Commissione agli studenti verrà comunicato il voto finale inerente l'intero Corso e i docenti saranno a disposizione per chiarimenti e commenti.

PER GLI STUDENTI CHE NON SOSTERRANNO L’ESONERO

La verifica dell'apprendimento verrà effettuata tramite presentazione di una RELAZIONE SCRITTA di contenuto tecnico-gestionale su un argomento scelto dallo studente, approfondito in modo da comprendere tematiche dei 4 MD che compongono il CI. Seguirà un colloquio orale, da sostenersi nello stesso appello, in cui la Commissione d'esame porrà al candidato domande relative alla relazione scritta. Il voto finale sarà costituito dalla media fra voto attribuito alla relazione scritta e voto attribuito al colloquio orale

La relazione scritta dovrà  essere fatta pervenire via e-mail entro il quindicesimo giorno prima della data di appello di esame ( è ammesso lo scarto di un giorno).

END OF COURSE EXEMPTION

An EXEMPTION is foreseen on 9-06-21 in the form of an oral presentation to groups (max 2 students, on PowerPoint support), on a topic chosen by the students, deepened in order to necessarily understand the themes of the 4 MDs that make up the Course Integrated.

Students must connect to the teacher's webex which will be indicated before the exemption

A question for each MD will follow from the teachers.

The passing of the exemption will imply, if the grade is accepted, the passing of the exam.

CRITERIA FOR CONDUCT AND ASSESSMENT OF THE EXEMPTION

The student must orally present a power point presentation to the commission. The maximum duration of the presentation will be 10 minutes and students will be able to choose whether to make the presentation individually or in pairs (always with a maximum time available of 10 minutes in total).

The information used for the presentation must reflect the topics illustrated by the course teachers. The bibliography shown in the presentation must be obtained from the consultation of texts, scientific articles (viewed through scientific sites eg PUB MED, google scholar….). The student must indicate in the text of the presentation the abbreviated citation of author and year (eg Bianchi, 2011). At the end of the presentation, a slide must contain in full and for each publication cited: title of the publication, name of the journal, volume, pages).

At the end of the presentation, each teacher can ask the candidate 1 question

The student will be assessed on:

1_presentation:

graphics (ability to summarize, adequate number of slides ...) up to a maximum of 3 points;
respect of time up to a maximum of 3 points
presentation (clarity and ability to synthesize, ability to address the audience ...) up to a maximum of 4 points;
2_topic:

congruity of the choice with the topics of the course up to a maximum of 3 points;
completeness in dealing with all modules up to a maximum of 3 points;
use of bibliographic material (scientific articles, texts…) up to a maximum of 4 points.
3_ ability to answer the questions of the commission. Value up to a maximum of 10 points *
At the end of the presentation, each teacher can address the candidate n. 1 question. The teacher may refuse to apply if the presentation was exhaustive and the points available will be counted in addition to points 1 and 2 of the evaluation scores.

 

The information obtained from the consultation of texts, scientific articles must not represent more than half of the report, compared to the material provided by the teachers.

 

VOTE

At the end of the presentations, the Commission will meet to establish the grades of the students. At the end of the session of the Commission the students will be notified of the final grade concerning the entire Course and the teachers will be available for clarifications and comments.

FOR STUDENTS WHO WILL NOT TAKE THE EXEMPTION

Verification of learning will be carried out through the presentation of a WRITTEN REPORT of technical-managerial content on a topic chosen by the student, deepened in order to understand the issues of the 4 MDs that make up the IC. An oral interview will follow, to be held in the same session, in which the Examination Commission will ask the candidate questions relating to the written report. The final grade will consist of the average between the grade attributed to the written report and the grade attributed to the oral interview

Animal behavior: fundamental processes. Instinct and learning: reinforcement and punishment, classical and operant conditioning. Hetogram of the dog and cat. Stages of development (critical period). Animal communication. Animal welfare: definition and evaluation. Direct (physiological, behavioral and productive) and indirect (environmental management and enrichment) indicators of well-being. Maladaptive behaviors and their evaluation. Educational activities and assisted therapies with animals. Reproductive behavior of the female and male (dog and cat).

Reproductive behavior useful for the management of canine and feline breeding in healthy subjects. Physiological management characteristics of mating, pregnancy and childbirth. Management of the healthy newborn.

Infrastructure and equipment in dog breeding, management of breeding activities, legislation on the protection of pets, legislation on electronic identification of pets.
